PEEPS.

I want to take a moment to talk about the power of relationships. I had a hard time writing this post because I had so many thoughts, but was not sure which ones I wanted to talk about. After a conversation I had with a friend I realize that everything really boils down to the relationships being made.

I think my favorite part of Pancake Peeps is watching as new volunteers and new friends in line create real friendships with one another. I tell people all the time it is hard to come to Pancakes and not be personally touched by someone you meet. We all come to Pancakes carrying our own burdens and life stresses.Whether you are eating the pancakes or making them you are undoubtable going through something. This in itself is not what is beautiful, but what is beautiful is watching each person find empathy in another human.

On the surface, our problems are so different. Lack of homes, food, and safety make it seem like the problems of our friends in line are so much larger than any problems we can face. In reality though, the root of these problems are the same ones that cause issues to take hold of our lives. Fear, loneliness, and stress are issues that anyone- regardless of socioeconomic status or age- deal with.

Each Saturday a few dozen friends meet up on the corner of 14th and K and simply support one another through life. We eat, we laugh, we pray, we cry. We do life with one another and make sure each other knows they are known and they are NOT alone.

Life is hard sometimes. It has a horrible way of making you feel like you are all alone. What I love about Pancakes is that moment I watch two people come together and realize they, in fact, are not.

Thank you for being a part of this beautiful journey we are taking!

I love you all,
